President Yoon Seok-yeol, immediately lift the unconstitutional emergency martial law
President Yoon Seok-yeol declared the emergency martial law on December 3, 2024. However, the impeachment proceedings of the National Assembly, which President Yoon Seok-yeol cited as the reason for declaring an emergency martial law, cannot be a requirement for declaring an emergency martial law under Article 2 of the Martial Law Act. President Yoon Seok-yeol’s declaration of martial law is unacceptable in a democratic society and is unconstitutional and illegal in itself.
The Yoon Seok-yeol administration’s declaration of emergency maritial law is a challenge to the democracy that has been built with blood. The people will never tolerate it. The National Assembly should immediately demand the lifting of emergency martial law in accordance with Article 77, Paragraph 5 of the Constitution and hold President Yoon Seok-yeol, who has undermined the Constitution, accountable.
