실종자들의 무사 귀환을 간절히 기원합니다.
미얀마 민주주의를 지지하는 한국시민사회단체모임은 지난 3월 28일 미얀마에서 발생한 강도 7.7의 대지진으로 수많은 사망자와 부상자가 발생하고, 지금 이 순간에도 사망자가 계속 늘어나고 있다는 소식에 참담함을 금할 수 없습니다. 이 지진 여파로 태국 방콕에서도 건물이 붕괴하여 수십 명의 실종자가 발생했습니다. 건물 잔해 속에서 아직 구조를 기다리고 있을 생존자들의 무사 귀환을 간절히 기원합니다. 이번 참사로 고인이 된 희생자들의 명복을 빕니다.
여진이 지속되는 상황에서 매몰자와 실종자를 구하기 위해 미얀마 현지에서는 사투를 벌이고 있습니다. 무너진 건물 잔해를 치우기 위한 기계가 없어 맨손으로 잔해를 파내며 구조하고 있는 상황입니다. 한국 정부와 국제사회가 인도적 지원과 긴급 구호대 파견에 적극 나설 것을 촉구합니다. 미얀마 군부 역시 모든 인도주의 단체가 방해받지 않고 전 지역에 접근할 수 있도록 허용해야 합니다. 지금은 무엇보다 생존자들의 회복과 실종자들의 무사 귀환, 피해 지역에 대한 조속한 수습을 최우선으로 해야 합니다.

Rest in peace to all those who have lost their lives in the Myanmar earthquake.
We sincerely pray for the safe return of the missing.
We are devastated by the news that the magnitude of 7.7 earthquake that occured in Myanmar on March 28 has caused numerous deaths and injuries, and that the death toll continues to rise even at this moment. In the aftermath of the earthquake, buildings collapsed in Bangkok, Thailand, leaving dozens of people missing. We sincerely hope that the survivors who are still trapped in the rubble will be safely rescued. We pray for the souls of the victims who lost their lives in this disaster.
In the ongoing aftershocks, local efforts in Myanmar are fighting a desperate battle to rescue the trapped and missing. However, there is a lack of machinery to clear the rubble, and rescuers are digging through the rubble by their bare hand. We urge the ROK government and the international community to actively provide humanitarian aid and dispatch emergency relief teams. The Myanmar military must also allow all humanitarian organizations to access all areas without obstruction. Above all, the priority must be the recovery of survivors, the safe return of the missing, and the prompt recovery of the affected areas.
